I am delighted to share with you the official program and call for applications for our third and final Training School in Computational Opinion Analysis (COpA3), which will take place on August 26-27 at VERN' University in Zagreb, Croatia.
COpA3 is organized by the OPINION COST Network's Working Group 4: Inclusion & Dissemination, chaired by Carlos Arcila Calderón (U Salamanca).
Over two days, COpA3 offers sessions on:
- Ethics in Opinion Research: Carlos Arcila Calderón (U Salamanca),
- LLMs for Opinion Analysis: Ana Jovancevic (U Limerick) & Aleksandra Urman (U Zurich),
- Validation and interpretability: Aleksandra Urman (U Zurich),
- Comparative and Cross-Context Analysis: Christian Baden (Hebrew U Jerusalem),
- Data Annotation: Mariken van der Velden (Vrije U Amsterdam),
- Fine-tuning and Model evaluation:Ljubisa Bojic (U of Belgrade).

For any questions regarding the program, please contact the organizers Carlos Arcila Calderón and David Blanco Herrero directly.
The training school is open to researchers within and this time also beyond the OPINION COST Network. It invites anyone from early career researchers to senior scholars who would like to gain a better understanding of computational text research.
For members of the OPINION COST Network, participation is funded according to the usual COST rules, reimbursing travel expenses as well as a daily allowance intended to cover accommodation and food. If you are not yet a member of the OPINION Network, you can apply to participate in the training school, however, if selected, you will participate at your own (or your employer's) expense. Participation is free, but conditional on being accepted: As there is a limited number of spots, anyone is welcome to apply, however, applications by members of the OPINION COST Network take precedence.
As previous Training Schools, COpA3 presumes some basic awareness of computational approaches and methods, but does not require advanced coding skills.
If you would like to participate in COpA3, please register your application here. There is no formal application deadline, however, places are likely to fill up soon, so we recommend that you submit your application before the end of June. If there are spaces left, we will continue to accept applications, however, once places are filled, even if accepted in principle, you will be waitlisted for participation.
You will be notified about your acceptance, rejection, or waitlisting in early July, or at weekly intervals afterwards if you submit your application later.
